Queen Square, Bristol
Project overview
Cladnation is undertaking the cladding remediation of a five-storey residential apartment building in the centre of Bristol.
The project involves replacing the existing timber cladding and timber framing system with a new metal framing and composite cladding solution.
The challenge
There are several technical challenges associated with replacing the existing construction while incorporating the additional requirements of the new façade build-up.
The replacement system needs to accommodate the metal framing and composite cladding while also integrating the required fire barriers and A1-rated insulation.
A key consideration has therefore been ensuring that the individual products and systems are compatible and can be installed together while remaining within each manufacturer’s specifications.
Our solution
Cladnation has taken a collaborative approach to the design, holding technical workshops with the key product suppliers, including Downer for the framing system and Tenmat for the fire barrier system.
These workshops have enabled the project team and manufacturers to review the interfaces between the different products and ensure they are installed in accordance with the manufacturers’ requirements while collectively forming a coordinated and compliant façade solution.
Result
The project is currently ongoing; however, the detailed design work has been completed, allowing the construction phase to progress.
Further updates and completed-project photography will follow as the works develop.
